Strength In Change

her branches are brittle

her hearts in decay

little by little

she withers away

warmth seeped and empty

nothing left but to sleep

chill has no sympathy

for melancholy

she creaks and she moans

as the darkness takes over

frozen like a stone

a victim of overexposure

the frost settles deep

taking charge of her senses

as the wind cruelly sweeps

breaking down her defenses

helplessly she remains

standing strong, as an oak

never cries or complains

another day in the grove

enduring the seasons

a fire burning inside

glowing like a prism

using what nature provides

there's a chill in the air

as winter stakes her claim

caught for now in her snare

till seasons change once again
