walking thoughtlessly

coin in hand

one false step

flipping end over end

clanging edge on edge into

a glass punch bowl

though you see it flip skyward

the potential for glass shards

shuts your eyes unconsciously

the second you do

it slips this dimension entirely

as soon as you resume your search

the sound still ringing

off the glass like a toast

though it has blinked

out of existence

looking around

there seem to be few crevices

you thud down

upon your knees

searching around

first lazily

after you have gone over

every obvious spot

your brow furrows

intensifying the gaze

it couldn’t have gotten away

could it?

searching every spot, two

three times

finding a new spot each round

finally, sitting back on your heels

and relenting

come back with new eyes

is what you say

gabbing a sip of water

the glass

nearly crashes to the floor

as you madly

fling yourself back into searching

WHERE COULD IT BE
