To know is to expect the unexpected

But to not lose sleep

Or care too deeply.

To know is to understand,

To show sympathy and recall

A painful moment such as that which

They experience right now;

To know is to do everything possible

To help others heal.

To know is to not be left behind.

To know is something I constantly have on my mind.

I'd like to know; I've always liked to know.

To know is to be in control

To know is to have some idea of what comes next.

To know is to have a chance to plan ahead,

To brace yourself before the rain rolls in and shelter is hard to find.

To know is to be able to feel okay with growth,

However sudden, however quick.

To know is to sit quietly with thoughts of skies and seagulls and wind.

To know is to sleep deep and recognise breath

To know is to continue when the rain comes early

And it is to pause when it comes late.

To know is to meet each day as a familiar face

A face that is worn but kind

A face that deserves peace

A face that is allowed to be tired and take its time.

To know is to possess knowledge

To perceive [yourself] directly

To be acquainted or familiar with [someone]

To have a practical understanding of [something]

To know is to live [life]
