Search me for a flaw

I’m sure you’ll find a few

Deflect and project

This game is nothing new

If I’m thrown off balance

And stumble with the truth

What does that even mean

Does it change reality of youth

What if I didn’t cry in pain

Or even seem to care

What lines were crossed

When those lines I was unaware

And so were you a time or two

Maybe you could also say

I could empathize and say goodbye

But what is the excuse today

What about the thousand times

The lies and doubts to sell me out

The cruelty and the sneers

The shouting for your cheering crowd

Inch by inch you sew deceit

And use my place to fly

Hidden weapon to compete

The innocent don’t hide

You want their vote

To cast me down

I was born to float

You can keep this town
