Scoop of Smiles

Sharing joy and kindness

By karthikPublished 3 years ago • 1 min read

Once upon a time, back when I was just a regular kid heading to school, something special happened that I still remember with a smile. Picture this: a normal day, sun up, school ahead, and me on my way.

As I strolled along, I saw an ice cream cart, all colorful and inviting. But what caught my eye was the tired ice cream seller slumped beside it, looking like he could use a break. And guess what? I had a plastic water bottle in my bag, so I handed it over. He looked relieved, drank the water, and gave me an ice cream in return.

That ice cream was like pure happiness in a cone, and I felt like the luckiest kid. As I enjoyed every lick, I couldn't help but feel a bit fancy, like I was in a movie or something.

But then, the story took a turn. I noticed a little boy, dressed in shabby clothes, staring at the ice cream cart with big, longing eyes. It was like he was wishing for a scoop of magic, but his pockets were as empty as a piggy bank after a shopping spree.

Feeling a pang of something I can only describe as 'nostalgia,' I walked up to him and gave him my precious ice cream. You know what? His eyes lit up like fireworks on the Fourth of July, and a huge grin appeared on his face. He said thanks with a voice that sounded like a mix of surprise and joy.

As I watched him savor that ice cream, I couldn't help but feel warm inside. It was like I had given him a ticket to a carnival he thought he'd never get to visit. And even though I didn't have an ice cream anymore, I had something better – a heart full of happiness that not even the tastiest treat could beat.
