Schizoaffective Color Spectrum

frontal lobe fire

dancing pink hysteria

dark green, light green

the military police are after me

welcome to the panic

the cola-brown shadows

pushed by broom

over miles of tiles

sticky-stick linoleum:

psych ward, Camp Lejeune

tap-tap too late

for a transorbital lobotomy

I guess that’s a good thing

hand on a cornflower-

blue Bible: winged and dog-eared

ask the cotton ball beard

if he’s God or if this is Hell

a peach-faced chaplain

congeals to say

that I’ve got it coming to me

tidal-slide, blue plastic tray

I spit out the food

ask if it’s poison

everyone laughs as I pray

pills like oblong pearls

two weeks and I’m back at work

and we all wear the desert

kick our coyote-brown boots in the sand

the platoon flicks the ashes from their cigarettes

while I flick the ashes from my head

surreal poetry
