Scented Sentencing

February 3, 2016

Lit up

And forgotten about

But still enjoyed

I got so soft

I was disappearing

I faded away

Burned down

And left to my own devices

Left to fend for myself

I stiffened up

When I was left alone

I didn’t need the air

Ignited again

Getting drained away

A life so short

I choked

I sputtered I need the oxygen

Asphyxiated

Holding on

To my lambent life

Before my light is snuffed

Burned again

Alive until I’m dead

Breathing until I can’t

Final spark

I lit your dark

Have you no heart?

Sweet scents

Linger after I am gone

You won’t regret me leaving

You’ll move on

Toss me in the trash

And get a new one
