Learning to say no is, in essence, learning to "cherish yourself."

Many times, our unhappiness stems from our inability to refuse the unreasonable demands of others. Therefore, a skill you absolutely must unlock in life is learning to say no.

Perhaps you are too considerate of others, neglecting your own feelings. Perhaps you don't want to trouble anyone, so you compromise yourself instead. Ultimately, people become accustomed to your attentiveness and begin taking your kindness for granted.

Being able to refuse the people and things you dislike, in a true sense, means having the ability to filter what stays in your life. It gives you more time and energy to cultivate what truly matters.

Once you learn to say no, you will find that not only do you have more time, but your mood will also lighten considerably. Unequal relationships truly drain your energy. Don't worry about refusing others or making them dislike you; those who make things difficult for you simply prove they don't care about you at all. So, why bother?
