Say Nothing, See Nothing, Do Not Listen

They stand where the air feels heavy,

three figures bound by unspoken law,

one seals her lips with trembling fingers,

one buries sight in the dark of her palms,

one shuts the world away with shaking hands.

Say nothing, the silence whispers,

because truth has teeth and it hunts,

it follows the careless word home,

it stains the tongue that dares to speak.

See nothing, the darkness insists,

for vision invites what should not be known,

once the eyes learn the shape of horror,

they never forget how to find it again.

Do not listen, the warning hums,

sound carries more than it should,

voices crawl through the smallest cracks,

and settle deep where sleep cannot reach.

Yet still they tremble beneath their vows,

because silence is not protection,

because darkness still has a pulse,

because what is unheard still exists.

The world moves around their stillness,

a quiet full of hidden fractures,

something shifts just beyond their control,

something waits for their weakness.

A whisper leaks through sealed lips,

a flicker slips past covered eyes,

a murmur coils through guarded ears,

and all three feel it at once.

They were never alone in their choosing,

never safe in their denial,

for what is refused does not vanish,

it gathers, it grows, it returns.

So they stand as statues of fear,

holding back what cannot be held,

and in the thick, watching silence,

something listens, something sees, something speaks.
