"Savin' Country Face"

He puts on a brave face

And faces yet another day

But nothing has changed

He feels his hope continue to fray

He puts on a brave face

As he checks the level in the tank

But the stick comes up dry

As dry as the barren river bank

He puts on a brave face

As his wife rations the last of the drinking water

He glances at the tiny dirt stained feet

Of his clueless baby daughter

He puts on a brave face

As he calls for another tanker

Another debt in the books

Another call from some city banker

He puts on a brave face

As he holds his wife tight to his chest

Working the land is meant to be tough

But what is this relentless test?

He puts on a brave face

As he padlocks the boundary gate

Loading his entire life into his beat up ute

He isn't sure of their fate
