Saudi Arabia - A Christmas Poem

Adventures in Saudi

All across the sand dunes,

The reindeer they did play.

They looked a lot like camels.

But who am I to say.

They carried Santa’s presents

Up there on their backs,

In what it did appear

Were perfect, built-in sacks.

Santa couldn’t make it

In 1998,

So he sent along his friend.

The presents won’t be late.

His friend’s name, it was Abul.

He was a charming kind of bloke.

He rode those reindeer across the sky,

And left a trail of smoke.

‘On Ziyad, on Ahmed,

On Mahmood as well,

Go Hamed, go Naif,

Like a bat outta hell!’

The presents they all got there.

None of them were late.

All the kids across the Gulf

Thought that it was great.

They woke up in the morning,

Their faces filled with glee.

It was Ramadan for them

And Christmas Day for me.
