A Family Affair
Butter soaked biscuits dipped in gravy
salty ham
crisp fried apples
sweet Honeycomb milk swimming in bowls
Cartoons blaring from the bedroom
Soul Train on the other tv
Mama dancing in the kitchen
Daddy setting up tables in the yard
dominoes and cards rule the day
The sound of a Big Wheel turning
scarred Hula Hoops
tiny pieces of Monopoly scattered across the floor
Hopscotch painted sidewalks
broken Yo-Yo and kite strings twirl
Laughter sings
Joy rides the wind
