The door was left unlocked.

Let the mimic inside.

It could see her sitting

By the fireplace and calm.

No expression on her

Face. It stayed in the hall.

Just out of sight, waiting.

It said her name: Sara.

It stirred Sara alert.

She could see the figure

In the hallway, fire eyes

The face was a blank of

Her own. It said her name

Again. Quiet and crisp.

Sara did not answer

Death waiting on her lips.

The mimic would take her

Soon enough, just answer.
