Sand in the Hourglass

as memories in the heart

By archita anandPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

You weren't meant to be

You knew and yet you risked it

You tried everything yet it wasn't enough

He slipped through your fingers

like sand in the hourglass

And all at once the time was up

He turned to dust and left no trace

All he left was this heartache

And you turned it upside down

You do it as if you're hands are tied to it

the memories floods back

Every second, every touch and every conversation

As if every grain touches your soul

You think you'd rather drown in the sand

Than to never think of him again

You hope for it to end someday

As you turn it upside down

Again and again

Until you choke

before you could ever do it one more time.
