Same Old Story

Michael Marchese

It always includes

Ruling classes

And taxes

Sometimes the form differs

The law always passes

Agreed upon by

Select few who renew

Their extravagance through

The consent of the governed

To pay what is due

To the papacy pew

As indulgences, tithes

Coincide with the sins

That accrue

Piled high to the sky

Where the heavens would cry

To know God's blessed children

Live only to die

As they serve the false prophets

Who claim they can fly

And it seems they're content

As to never know why

Such a system relies

On the spreading of lies

Until lo and behold!

No surprise,

Out of time
