Safety in Mind

When there is a raging

Where a page turns

And the thoughts are rearranging

As the candle burns;

The fire of the moment spreads.

And the thoughts lick around

The flickering sparks one dreads

Without a signal, without a sound.

A mind set ablaze makes

For a devastating blow.

As a flame simply snakes

Through ideas that damp fire like snow.

Safety comes from a pill.

Some denounce its use.

True comfort makes me still.

And all talk against psych drugs is obtuse.

With the fire doused by chemicals, true

It includes a smoldering of ashes.

It helps to know too

The frame is burned but I save the sashes.
