Safari, With Regrets

Safari, I think of you today,
And all the moments left behind,
The roads that took us far away,
Still often wander through my mind.

I think about the things I missed,
The chances that I let pass by,
The little moments I dismissed,
Before I understood just why.

There were so many things to see,
So many places left unknown,
I wish I had just let it be,
Instead of rushing to move on.

The days were full of something new,
With every turn a different view,
I never knew how much I knew,
Until the memories faded too.

I sometimes wonder what went wrong,
And why I did not see it then,
Perhaps I should have stayed more long,
And taken time to look again.

Safari, you were more than days,
You left behind a deeper thought,
A thousand memories in different ways,
Of things I saw and things I sought.

Now when I think of what has passed,
I wish I had enjoyed it more,
Some moments never seem to last,
And some are gone forevermore.

So now I carry no regret,
For everything that came my way,
But still there are times I can’t forget,
The memories of a Safari day.
