At birth in the land of Shakespeare,
Strangely, the written words, matching my thoughts,
Text messages, comments, and remarks make clear.
Encouragements were given, never oughts.
VOCAL challenges winnings taken in stride,
Never boastful, but gentle, truly kind,
He was courageous with truth by his side.
A writing community he helped to bind.
A displaced person true friend we did find.
Sadly, he will not be there to calm fears.
Without thought, a BeeGees' song came to mind,
Because his day in a life story led to tears.
Belief, how can it be that you are gone?
Now, how do we mend our broken hearts, Tom?
Writer's notes: Approximately 48 hours ago, my cellphone chimed. It was Lesley Anne's message about Tom Bradbury. Truly, I was clueless about the rumor that was unfathomable. Naturally, my heart and mind were filled with shock and disbelief.
Then, my emotions ranged from anger, disappointment, and sadness. It had to be a bad dream, but it wasn't. My rage and grief for a young man that was a wordsmith extraordinaire. The feeling of sadness hit me, Tom didn't make it back to his beloved homeland. Knowing that his spirit has no physical boundaries, Tom will always be with us in our hearts.
SADNESS is about Tom Bradbury (Tom Brad) and dedicated to him.
Footnote: In my Shakespearean Sonnet writings, there isn't a Sonnet #6.
