Like a deer stumbling upon a quiet stream in the woods,

I search for you.

Not a shallow puddle or a passing trickle.

I seek deep waters.

I thirst for something real, for You - alive and moving.

I catch myself wondering,

“Am I ever going to just sit and rest in that presence I keep hearing about?"

-

My sadness is the only thing feeding me.

It’s the first thing I taste in the morning

and the last thing on my mind at night.

And the noise surrounding me is absolutely relentless.

The hurtful voices, the news, the doubt in my own mind,

they keep pushing, asking the same question:

"Where is this God of yours?
