Sabotage

All your own work

You know this sabotage

Not mechanical: like sawing through a supporting beam

Or putting diesel

In a petrol car

No, the kind

You inflict

With your overthinking

And “following your heart”

Where its bloody obvious

It’s not meant to go.

The kind where you have everything going the way you want

And one thing doesn’t quite fit

So you smash up all your plans

The ones you worked hard for

And believed in, once

And are left feeling like you just dropped a priceless Ming Vase

From a great height onto concrete

And superglue or a sorry can’t solve this one.

You know this one only too well, don’t you?

Sabotage…

Of the self

Yes, that one….
