Beneath the legs only dust,

No ground to kick or grind.

Nothing that's a want or must,

To search but never to find.

-

Running, running somewhere far,

Further than distance alone.

Seeking what footprints are,

When they're glazed in broken bone.

-

Haze has swallowed every mind,

And night, every star and moon.

With not a glint to guide me blind,

Or what is now and what is soon.

-

Chasing something never there,

Fleeing scars of bloody guilt.

Hearts that bask in all they bear,

And prison cells they rashly built.
