Through moonlit woods, he chose to flee,

Leaving whispers of love in his wake,
A trail of broken hearts, a risky stake.
With every footfall, he left behind,
A story of longing, of a heart unconfined.
The wind was his guide, the stars his map,
No chains could hold him, no worldly trap.
In search of a freedom that called his name,
He ran from love's rules, a dangerous game.
But deep within those fleeting eyes,
Lingered the echo of heartfelt goodbyes.
A yearning for love, a conflict within,
A runaway lover with a heart to win.
In each new sunrise and every sunset,
He carried the love he couldn't forget.
A nomad of feelings, a wanderer's soul,
In his runaway journey, he found his role.
So let him roam, let him explore,
The runaway lover forevermore.
A mystery to those left behind,
In the tapestry of love, an enigma designed.

I promise her. I'd do anything for her. She's my mom. Even as Lanie and Deanna are flying home, Mom is scrappy fighting dying. She lays too still in that too-big bed with all the toasty white hospital blankets, in the south tower, at the broad end of a long slow-turning corner that delivers me again to her private room with the view she can't see through, with the beeping that tells us nothing new, and all these ice chips she can't swallow, and a flood of well-intentioned nurses who cannot do a damned thing all the same.
