Rough Notes in a Rainstorm

A Poem.

By Rayah.Published 5 years ago • 1 min read

Hot water running down my cheek

Slices open the cage in which I’ve been hiding,

From my enemies.

They swarm me day and night when the sun starts to rise.

In safety I remain drowned in cleanliness

Freedom in the heat.

The steam moves up,

And the words come out.

Too many words that I can’t contain.

Though I asked for the silent gift,

I’m receiving more than I can take.

Greedy for thought, and now I think too much

To be brave and run out,

Face the burden of doubt

Overtaken by the gaze I’d been hiding from.

I’ve stained my eyes and tarnished my heart.

Regret from wishing

Hoping too much to fill the space

Bombarded by the filth of memories

Overwhelmed by the stories I can’t explain

Drip to drip

Until it all dries out.
