Rotted In Glass

Behind Closed Doors

By Sharna HalliwellPublished 2 days ago • 1 min read

Emerald stems,
Silk, crimson petals,
Love letters,
Candlelit dinner.

Petals turn brown,
Love letters burnt,
Candles smashed,
Dinner, alone.

Hushed tears,
Fist-punctured plaster,
Beer can cracked,
You're the new target.

Fractured smile,
Latent bruising,
Oppressive nights,
Ensuite weeping.

Emerald stems withered,
Rotted in glass,
The petals have fallen—
Another can cracked
