Roses in The Dark by: Lillemor

A woman, maybe a lonely woman.

She awoke to a black figure with red eyes above her.

She closed her eyes and counted to 5 in hopes that it would disappear.

She closed her eyes and it would become dark.

In the dark she would see these roses everywhere.

Their thorns would catch your pant leg as you walked by.

But she knew just what this was.

This was her place to escape a scary moment.

Even for just a moment.

She has always found piece in the dark with these roses.

But with every rose.

Comes a small wound.

Maybe these wounds are not worth it in the long run?

Or maybe they are?

But it didn't matter to her.

This place of hers cared for her when no one else would.
