roots

they come to you while you grow

these days I'm deeply rooted

legs covered in mud

outstretched arms reach

for silent heavens

yet the lack of sunshine

no longer makes me frail

for below the crust

I have grown long enough

to hit hidden pockets of water

saving them from rainy days

my roots allow preparation

they allow me to repair

when I am hacked down

by outside forces

whether wind or foe

I know my rooted allies

will send signals of strength

until I can stand firm once again

as above, so below

fingertips kiss clouds

toes tickle tectonic plates

rooting myself allowed me to bloom

I am the whole picture

I see it all
