Root-borne Ascension

The Journey of Becoming Through Earth, Memory, and Light

By Tim CarmichaelPublished 10 months ago • 1 min read

In the silence of dawn, where shadows linger,

roots stretch deep, entwined with earth’s embrace,

each fiber a story, each tendril a memory,

anchoring me beneath the burden of time,

soft words of those who came before, the sun and rain,

a tapestry woven in soil, love, and loss.

My heart trembles with the pulse of the ancients,

the earth’s breath a rhythm, firm beneath my feet,

here, I learn resilience, the strength of stillness,

the way storms may rage, yet roots hold fast,

and in that steadfastness, the strength to rise,

to reach for the light that beckons above.

Branches unfurl like hands, eager to dance,

each leaf a promise, each bud a dream,

stretching towards horizons, where the sky meets longing,

and in their graceful arc, I find my way forward,

carried on winds of hope, the breeze of intention,

as I gather the sunlight, a chorus of possibility.

Yet still, I glance back, to where I belong,

the faint hush of those roots, a grounding song,

reminding me that flight is forged in the depths,

that my wings are made strong by the burden of love

and the reverberations of laughter, the sage advice,

the embrace of familiar and the courage to explore.

For in this sacred dance of roots and branches,

I stand tall, a dwelling place of both past and future,

each step a testament, each reach a tribute,

to the depths that nurture me, and the heights that inspire,

in this journey, I am cradled, I am soaring

a harmony of being, a heart unbound, yet held.
