Rondeau for Clear Thinkers

Be Not Distracted by Foolish Trends or Thoughts

By Paul A. MerkleyPublished 3 months ago • 1 min read

Rondeau Quatrain

Refrain

Let us all be friends again; costs are high in times like these

Carbon footprint matters, yes, but Focus first on economies

I welcome a dialogue

All our work is sorely needed

Need to talk I've now conceded

Need relief from smoke and smog

Let us all be friends again; costs are high in times like these

Carbon footprint matters, yes, but Focus first on economies

You're set against electric cars

You say we lack electric sources

Best to use the old resources

Maybe things will change on Mars?

Let us all be friends again; costs are high in times like these

Carbon footprint matters, yes, but Focus first on economies

Costs are high, but risks are higher

Caps are melting, ice grows thin

Maybe contests you can win

But are you still a denier?

Let us all be friends again; costs are high in times like these

Carbon footprint matters, yes, but Focus first on economies

Burning oil comes at great cost

Burning coal stings nose and eyes

Surely you must realize

Much that's priceless could be lost

Let us all be friends again; costs are high in times like these

Carbon footprint matters, yes, but Focus first on economies

At the ballot box you've won

Maybe you can win next year

Voters hold their wallets dear

But needed efforts aren't begun

Let us all be friends again; costs are high in times like these

Carbon footprint matters, yes, but Focus first on economies

Costs are raised by our delays

Floods and fires and atmosphere

All this must be fixed right here

Harder if in later days

Let us all be friends again; costs are high in times like these

Carbon footprint matters, yes, but Focus first on economies
