Rewind to the days of Christmas Divinity

Mama’s sugar had a sweetness of its own

Our eyes twinkled just as bright as the lights

Dripping outside from our windows and porch rails.

Small house bustling rich and warm

with excitement for the coming of Christmas Day

As holiday movies glow,

Soulful holiday songs lull family members to sleep

while others remain awake to hear the next melody

Anticipation swarms

Relatives coming

Will steps make it

With snow hailing down from all directions?

A blast of cold air drafts inside

As our family favorite rolls in

With sunshine from the Windy City.

Little ones sneaking around the tree

To unearth gifts hidden in pretty paper

Not realizing that they had been outsmarted with hidden blessings

All around undercover

In closets, in trunks, and sometimes places forgotten about until after

Christmas Day had arrived.

Fast forward to the days of Christmas Divinity …

Allow Jesus Christ’s presence to glow within us

On Christmas Day and beyond.

Your stories reek of such nostalgia, I can tell persons with old beautiful souls from miles away. I too have an old soul. It is a gift and sometimes a curse, mostly gift though.
