Rewild my brave forest heart
A Poem & A Painted Dream
I have sturdy antlers grown,
Rockpool eyes and forest heart,
Roots weaving, drumming tapestries,
Through soil webs
My blood river snakes -
Round heart-castle,
Moated red.
I am deep green and moss and root
No Trojan Horse shall pass -
For I quietly burned the drawbridge,
My blood runs sepia now
And I will only be whole
With out their extraction -
For they smiled and proudly built
A billion tiny plastic nooses
From which to hang my love.
I am deep green and moss and root,
I know what is -
Slowly simmering,
Inconvenient ashes,
A once voluptuous planet -
Rich lapis blue -
Now fire smoke cradles a sawn ivory horn,
Too many lost to silence.
I am deep green and moss and root,
I shall gently wrap the broken horn
In the true love
Of a blossom blanket

In the true love
Of a clear night sky
In the true love
Of a single sunset
In the true love
Of a rainbow
Carried by a thousand hands
And one Spring day
I will be made whole again -
By the unconditional love
I owe myself,
Forever Rewilding
My brave forest heart.
