Sweet Dreams With The Moon

I woke suddenly from a somber dream

The room - unusually bright

I found myself floating- walking in the air

Dancing freely in the soft moonlight

*

High above the clouds

The stars parting, as I made my way

Through the vastness of the galaxy

Breezing past the milky way

*

The air was crisp and light

The slightest music filled my thoughts

I began to reminisce

About the times, I thought I’d lost

*

People from my past - began to come to me

Like we hadn’t spent a day a part

Joy and laughter filled my being

I felt love refill my heart

*

Though the time, it seemed to stand still

It flew by - like days to years

Reminding me that time is a gift

And my eyes swelled up with tears

*

For the people and moments - left behind

And a future that let me down

Of second chances wasted

And the loneliness that hangs around

*

I don’t need the ghosts of Christmas

To remind me what I have

This magical dream was all I needed

To change my ways - begin again

*

Still, I hope that there are others

Dreams like this, that take me back

To the reunion of the spirits
