Restricted fellowship

A complaint case

The absence of fellowship, the coldest winters night,

No gathering of kin, nor the sharing of delight,

The hindering of hope, despite the hearts desire for a reprieve,

The forsaking of merry joy, on the night of Christmas Eve,

Where once the crowd gathered with voices uplifted in joyful praise,

Now faith had been strengthened by the consistent, yet sure delays,

The pitter, the patter, the tears of sorrow dripped,

The pestilence of paranoia, fear, a disease, that surely gripped,

Family could not share the gift of their presence, tones of such disdain,

The breaking of tradition, love sighed from wrenching pain,

Mourning as a dove, wanting to believe,

That hope could surely prosper, on the night of Christmas Eve,

Bread crumbs from the table, the masters cordial displeasure,

The restriction of liberty, an overreaching measure,

“The fight, the fight, to overcome!” they say,

“Victory over the disease, it is the only way!”

Hypocrisy dictated the restraint of personal choice,

“Take what you get and be silent, restrain your open voice!”

Such disdain was met with silence, but justice would right this wrong,

For freedom is not so easily broken, it uplifts its voice in song,

But who would dare to talk back, who would dare conceive?

To defiantly push back against such tyrants, on the night of Christmas Eve?

“We push, we fight, we have so much to say!

Let liberty reign once again, it is the only way,

Speak as boldly as a trumpet, tell them of what’s to come,

The stepping and the marching, the stirring of the drum!”

Hearts set on freedom, hope would preserve its flame,

For winters chill could not hinder, nor the masters surely tame,

Despite the coldest shrewdness, hearts would soon be free,

“Let liberty move once again from sea to shining sea!”

For never again should they hinder their gathering, or their freedoms to once again, retrieve,

Love would follow abundantly once again, on the night of Christmas Eve…
