A young boy lay silent reading a book, but ready to go to sleep soon though,

When something disturbed him - a sound like a tap - on the glass outside of his window.

.

He rubbed sleep from his eyes, and put down the book. He was now fully awake,

As his eyes cut their way through the darkness outside he started to make out a shape.

.

Rat-at-at ''oh please let me in,

Your room looks so warm and inviting,

I promise i'm not as bad as I look,

Our night can be oh so exciting''

.

The boy clutched his covers right up to his eyes and didn't let out a breath,

For the creature that hovered outside of his window looked ever so much like Death.

.

Its face was a skull, its eyes were black holes,

It was garbed in a cape of spider's webs and mould,

The claws of its fingers with which that it rapped,

Were trickling with blood that ran crimson and black.

.

The boy gave a squeak and lay back on his bed with his covers pulled over his hair,

When five minutes had passed he slowly peered out to see if the ghoul was still there.

.

With a sigh of relief he smiled to himself for the night was just empty and black,

It was easily explained - he was tired - it was late - he gently returned to his back.

.

The boy's face hit the pillow, his eyes soflty closed, when terror ripped through his head,

"Little boy, I got in anyway", a voice whispered from under his bed.
