Respect Wildlife and Nature

If you are civil creature

Deception Pass, in Pacific Northwest,

visited the serene place.

Here, I was offended by human behavior,

let me share.

Everything was serene,

seals were playful in the water,

sunlight made silvery stars on the ripples,

gentle waves lapped against the pebbled shore,

creating soothing lullaby,

gulls squawked from the bluffs,

and a lighthouse in the distance.

Sitting on a driftwood log,

as soaked in the beauty,

I was almost in paradise,

but then...

Suddenly, a jet ski cruised through,

piercing the calm with jarring noise,

leaving behind ugly smells,

and disturbing the tranquility.

I felt hurt, cheated.

Said sorry to the

seals and the gulls.

There is a reason,

I do not look forward

to traveling much anymore.

Natural places are being invaded,

by careless, selfish people,

who seem to have little regard,

for other lives.

Please be respectful,

act civil, have compassion,

it's their home,

you are mere visitor.
