I made myself easy to follow,
turned, you weren’t there.
Kept moving, and when you caught up,
I pretended I wasn’t scared.
And while taking that long walk,
I made use of very short steps,
thinking best to make myself leave you
with the burden of your regrets.
Then we met at Rendezvous Junction
for the second time.
And I created the illusion of control
by being careful not to speak my mind.
I gave you enough already,
And now wanted back my life.
And it was there you inked the papers,
That we watched dry before our eyes.
So when I saw salt on your cheeks,
Honestly, I kind of felt surprised.
I had assumed you felt nothing,
Shattering a decade with a year of lies.
And honestly, I still do,
Knowing how difficult it is
For you to speak the truth.
And I can never unsee the irony
Of that brewery named "Rendezvous."
