Remodeling Time
A Reflection Of Our Times
Cities crumble slowly to the ground,
Buildings unable to withstand the
Flames licking at their bases
Until finally, they
Fall
I watch from atop a hill not far away
Crumbling, but still standing
Both the buildings and I,
Slowly falling
Down
Others gather around the flames and cheer,
Having lit the fires themselves,
Dancing, drinking,
Burning it all
Down
Together,
We could rebuild them,
Glue their pieces to each other,
Duct tape and wire them, one piece to another,
Not as they were before, but at least whole once more
Perhaps,
If we work together
To put out the flames in our hearts,
We could begin to heal our old wounds
And finally put it back the way we found it
Let's make it happen.
