will you remember these times?
long days spent spinning beneath an electric blue canopy,
admiring rainbows, birds, clouds made of puffed marshmallows
and those thin trunks with waving fronds
that dance hula in the swaying breeze
will you remember
pushing your toes
into finely tumbled bits of multicolored shells
digging fingers, shovels, buckets, anything into the grains
and molding them into everything your imagination inspired you to create?
will you remember these moments
when you stood where water met sand
and dared the almighty sea to come up and catch you,
when you greeted the ocean as an old friend
with open arms and a happy heart?
will you remember
laughter shared with Mom and Dad,
Aunties and Uncles,
Grandmas, and Grandpas,
Siblings, and Friends?
I hope you will fondly remember
because as long as you do,
your box of treasures will always be filled
with love, family,
and beautiful, precious moments like these.
