Is never easy
It gives you strength
The ending of something
Can be hard
Sad and even blue
But never the less
Something beautiful
Letting go of the toxic shades
To let the light shine in
Where there is no blame
No shame
What has happened
Was meant to happen
To show you
That you are worth more
A higher love
That you never knew before
Some journeys end
For something better to begin
Starting from scratch
You tear down every wall
So that your soul
Can shine its way through
Building the life
That you are meant to go
Finding the colors
That you are meant to show

The Fish Song
The room didn’t smell like disinfectants. Its fragrance seemed light and not overbearing. A soft mixture of lavender and mint permeated the space. No beeping machines or any tubes hooked up to four-year-old Kaleeka. Her cacao skin seemed to glow from the light over her head. The family, save for one and the doctors and nurses exited the room like a trail of saints showing their last vestiges of regard.
