Relaxation Blurred

sights and sounds

Southwest sun and hopes of relaxing for a week. Beautiful sunsets, fabulous dinners along the River Walk, new shopping options, and historic sites greeted us upon arrival.

Wildlife and blooming cactus in egg yolk yellow, peach, and pale rose. Lizards, various hummingbirds, quail, grackles, and baby rabbits peek from behind the golden barrel cactus.

A glorious drive searching for wild horses, and one day, after a road bend, there the herd stood, foals and mares munching. Roans, chestnuts, grays, buckskins. A chestnut stallion watched his herd as they grazed.

Our plans for a quiet respite were disrupted by kids and parents yelling; Oboes played above us, crooning - no, my head was spinning to an annoying sound.

Guests came and went, bringing a constant bustle.

Hard to rest with (unsoundproof) walls in the resort, a first-time visit here.

Can I get some sleep? Neighbor sounds are louder than IMAX.

Why are we sleepier on vacation? Is it the unfamiliar setting, or the not-so-quiet neighbors?

Sleepiness overtakes us, leaving less time for window shopping and more for afternoon naps.

Sunny, warm days; sunset earlier in the more southern place. Clear skies, but too sleepy for stargazing.

The splash pool with a huge bucket was fun to watch . I hopped around in a self-pretend aerobic class. Sat in the sun, then moved to shade, all timed so not to be fully baked.

Eating out with delicious dishes - so many choices spoiled us. Bellies full, we retreat back to the (not quiet) unit, hoping for a peaceful night.

Vacation almost gone.

Mid-day flight home in a day, and arrival will be in rush hour traffic.

High-rise rental vehicle had no step stool.

The chiropractor will see me soon.
