Reflection

Can you face yourself?

Across the desolate desert,

a traveler walks.

Wind blowing in utter silence.

He looks down at his blade

that has spilled so much blood.

He marches on, never looking back.

A noise is heard from behind the traveler’s back.

The traveler sees another man across the desert.

His face, a mirror reflection soaked in blood.

The traveler ceases walking

as he unsteadily raises his blade

staring in utter silence.

The reflection stares at his foe in deafening silence.

His eyes, daggers being shot back

at the traveler. He raises his own blade

ready to clash across the desert

ending the silence

and refreshing the blade’s blood.

The traveler splits open his foe in a splatter of blood.

Over in an instant, all is silent.

He turns around, and walks,

but the deafening static comes back

tenfold. Everything goes fuzzy, thoughts deserting

him as he is pierced by a blade.

The reflection, put back

together, lodged his blade

deep within. Spilling the traveler’s blood

over the desert.

An eerie silence

fills the air as the reflection draws back his blade and walks.

He doesn’t walk

long. On his side, his blade

He turns back,

dripping from his blade, fresh blood.

The traveler with fuzzy vision stares in silence

as the desert

is stained. The traveler’s blood leaks out as his foe stands in silence.

“Who are you?” The foe puts his blade in its sheathe and replies back,

“I am you.” He walks into the desert.
