I love you.
Some days you drive me crazy.
Your brain is a maze of confusion and spite.
You tend to live in fight or flight.
You forget to meditate every day,
the one thing you know
chases all your cares away.
Sometimes when I look in the mirror,
you look back
and I see beauty within.
But other times,
all I see are the nightmares we live in.
The past hurts.
The years of abuse.
But none of this is a valid excuse
to not love
the person staring back.
The tired eyes—
they can be brightened up.
That frown
can be turned upside down.
And if none of this seems possible right now,
just walk away
and do some internal work.
When you come back,
perhaps the view will be different.
You're a piece of art
that will never be finished—
not until you're in the ground.
So, while you're around,
learn to love yourself better.
That is the end
of my letter to myself.
