Reflecting, off the walls

A poem

Tired body, back and forth,

never found a destination.

-

That awkward meeting point between

a smile and a grimace is

engraved upon your face.

-

Disturbing rictus in the mirror,

shattered glass found

in peppered shards,

all over the place.

-

Overwhelmed by the stench and made

sick by the taste of

the streets and the posters — kids still

lost without a trace — endless

droning, the sheer noise of

it all — it’s crippling —

a man on the streets,

screaming,

skin itching from withdrawal.

-

The ambulance’s lights reflecting off the

walls

‘her blood is in me, her blood is in me,

her blood’s upon the walls’

the phone screen is shattered

but it’s fine,

-

nobody calls.
