I had the weirdest thought today.
The clouds rolled over, sky turned grey.
Thunder shouted, lightning ran
And then I felt it on my hand.
It trickled right down to my nose
And then sent shivers through my toes,
Blind my eyes due to the sky
And then I heard civilians cry.
They ran for cover but there I stood:
One with Earth and feeling good.
The rain poured down and I felt a rush,
My bones sensitive to the touch.
Hair matted all on my face
And I began to love this place.
I pranced over a concrete rut
And placed my hands within the mud.
I splashed and kicked with shouts galore
Until my voice was hoarse and sore.
People wondered as they stared
But I would have died twice if I cared.
So there I was, smile on my face
As I began to love this place.
Thankful to have this second chance,
I resumed my redemption dance.
