There's a secret

every girl discovers

between baby dolls

and the little black dress.

No one warns her

how much will spill,

how it will find her

in white,

in gym class,

while she's talking

to the boy

with green eyes.

Someone points.

Others laugh.

One cruelty

of becoming.
