Red leaves, autumn breeze

You and I

Paint me an autumn breeze

Red leaves falling and

crumpled

at your feet

.

The moon full

cut with scissors from the sky

A child's eye

innocent and watchful

You and I

.

How I loved you

dark eyes — bright

Silhouette in fire light

.

I took your hand

and you asked why

searching, fateful

You and I

.

To walk those streets

unknowing — like strangers

hesitant and hopeful

shy and unaligned

Trees and shadows

moon on high

quiet, peaceful

You and I

.

You sat with me

shivering

words exchanged

like candy between children

sweet and playful

and misunderstood

Time flitters away

leaves scattered to the wind

branches bare

.

Hold me close

Don't ask why

Don't leave or say goodbye

Wistful eye

Don't cry

.

This is the beginning

You and I
