Red is the colour of my skin
An ode to eczema, bleeding, inflammation and seeing beauty in pain

Blood rising, viscous rubies on the surface of my body.
A sunrise every morning
And my sunset mourning.
The clear skin.
Before the blush of fire.
As raw as the new dawn.
This burnt skin.
Cooling my passion.
Building intensity.
As slowly healing flames consumed me.
Bursting anew.
A phoenix from the fire.
Burnished to a brilliance.
Forged through heat so powerful.
That everything is changed.
The pain fuelling my hunger.
Soothing and quenching my thirst.
Let this tortuous journey be a warning.
To question everything and trust yourself.
Because you have the capacity inside.
You are the warning.
The stop sign.
The lesson to listen to your skin.
And just begin.
This journey of discovery.
