Red Hat

you stuck out like a red hat

In a sea of gray

I am

Not allowed to be angry

Because of the season of emotional flu

Nausea for the erasure of truth,

Fever for the dreams that were lazily drawn

With no carefully rendered future taken off a fantasy

Chills for the silence that felt like a scorching treatment of the sun

Headaches for the tears that were ignored

But a languishing realm of art that cripples

For how can you be an artist if you do not suffer? For how can you send out the most catastrophic picture of greed, agony war, love

if you refuse to acknowledge your fellow men in peril
Even men you do not meet
War is at your feet even if you pretend another country’s, neighbor's or friend’s trauma is not your business

You stuck out like a red hat in a sea of black

Waving for your emotional feeding, to indulge in intimate fame, to create something big that only was really small in your heart

Red flags like a beautiful red hat

Bombing me with complex compliments that only served as a way to pull me in

To make sure I was hooked

I ain't hooked on anything
Red hat, fly away to trace someone else’s

Fears.

I just hope that they have sense to not wear it as long as it didn't fit. Even trauma can bond, making you believe in the dumbest bullshit.

I loved your description of color and imagery here! It brings about political and emotional undertones that add a lot of power to the piece. Great work!
