I take my favorite red balloon

Everywhere I go

When my class does a show and tell

It's always what I show

·

Sometimes I feel it give a tug

Towards the big blue sky

That's where it wants to go, but no

I can't bear to say goodbye

·

I feel it tugging more and more

Trying to get free

It wants me to just let it ride

The cool and gentle breeze

·

It pains me much to do it

But it deserves much more

Than to be held on to by me

Down here nearby the floor

·

Today I'll let it go, I will

Loosen up my grip

I'll wave it a long last goodbye as

String through my fingers slips

·

·

So I took my favorite red balloon and let go of the string

For happiness to my balloon I knew that it would bring

About the Creator

Ryan Giese

I'm not formally educated in creative writing, or anything really, so don't expect much from me. I have, however, read bits and pieces of a poetry textbook I found at a thrift store.
