Recurrence

Faceless

By Brie MunnPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

I can tell I am stressed,

Because here she is in my dreams yet again.

She has haunted me since a little girl,

I remember her from as young as seven years old.

It begins with me sitting on my bed,

My room turns dark.

She takes my windows and doors,

Leaving me with crisp white walls.

Faceless, and contorted in the corner of the room,

I can feel her mocking me,

My fear amuses her.

I am determined to find a way out,

But as if she knows my every move, she lunges at me with a knife.

I wake to know that my dream is not over,

The feeling of her lingering near still haunts me during the day.

She is the embodiment of my stress,

A monster I can't escape.
