Reclaiming
A Poem About Learning Not to Abandon Yourself
By Tim CarmichaelPublished 5 months ago • 1 min read

You spent
so much time
watering everyone else
that you mistook
your own thirst
for kindness.
Now look at you,
learning
that rest
is not laziness,
that saying no
does not make you cruel,
that a heart
can be soft
without surrendering
itself.
And slowly,
like morning light
through thin curtains,
you return
to yourself.
